New short film on inclusive cycling

A new short film from Dr Rachel Aldred entitled “Cycling for All” shows how cycle infrastructure must cater for minorities to be truly inclusive.

“Cycling in Britain is not equal: women, older people, black and minority ethnic people, and disabled people are all less likely to cycle.”

Lack of inclusive cycling infrastructure is the number one barrier for disabled cyclists. Often cycle paths are not wide enough and physical barriers placed on the paths can prevent disabled people from using them.

A poor cycling environment also results in rates of cycling falling off dramatically as people get older. Infrastructure needs to be welcoming to all types of cycles with high quality, direct routes that are attractive to people of all ages and abilities.
