Horsham Cycle Debate – County elections – 21st April

Confirmed panellists are:

  • Frances Haigh, Horsham East (Lib Dem)
  • David Hide, Horsham Riverside (Lab)
  • Andrew Baldwin, Horsham East (Con)
  • Peter Shaw, Southwater & Nuthurst (Green)

Come to the Horsham Cycle Debate and ask the candidates in the West Sussex County elections how they will make our streets safer for everyone, including people on bikes.

Each of the main political parties has agreed to put forward a panellist for the debate. They will have the opportunity to tell voters how they will create better neighbourhoods and people-friendly streets. Many measures that are good for cycling are also good for pedestrians, the disabled and the elderly.

The event will take place at 7:15pm on Friday 21st April in County Hall North, Horsham.

Come and ask the candidates!

There will be an opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions of the panel. The debate is being chaired by Rosemary French OBE, Executive Director of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative.

Nationally, Cycling UK is calling through its Space for Cycling campaign for councils to create a network of cycle-friendly routes that all can enjoy, regardless of age or ability.

The key aims are:

  • Plan – Plan a full network of cycle-friendly routes that allow people of all ages and abilities to cycle anywhere for any purpose
  • Invest – Actively seek the funding to implement the network and invest a minimum of
5-10% of the local transport budget in cycling
  • Build – Build the network using the most up-to-date high quality design standards

We hope to see you there!
